Halina Bienkowski  is a native of Poland and a new Canadian citizen since 1984. She has been exposed to a broad range of art and forms. Self study, passion ally experimenting with different media and contact with other master artists she manages to establish her own style . Hanka (her nick name) is a family physician of a busy practice in Amherst, Nova Scotia and has found over the years that humor and a good laugh relax her the best. Her each work includes the constructions of painting with cardboard, fabric, photographs, grains, oil and finally a wool. Using symbols and signs helps her pass thoughts across to the viewer without unnecessary complications. She concentrates on social issues observed from the perspective of a newcomer to Canada and a physician. Over five years ago she has found rug-hooking to be a rather intriguing way to relive stress. Inspired by this challenge Hanka creates a beautiful pieces of rugs. Those can be accessed to viewers online at: www.hookedonrugs.net
